Alexandria firefighters battled a fiery crash on Highway 29 just south of the Interstate 94 overpass this morning.

There were no reports of injuries.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol (MSP), John Worlie, 59, of Cambridge, was driving a 1995 International semi truck southbound on Highway 29 when he jackknifed his truck to avoid crashing with a vehicle in front of him. At that point, a 1996 Freightliner semi truck driven by Fred Lambert, 47, of Pine River rear-ended Worlie's truck.

Both vehicles ended up in the west ditch and Worlie's truck burst into flames, according to MSP.

The crash happened just after 7 a.m. and detoured southbound traffic onto Interstate 94.

The Alexandria Police Department, Douglas County Sheriff's Office, North Ambulance and Minnesota Department of Transportation assisted at the crash scene.
