Volunteers arrived at 4:30 p.m. to build raised beds, fill them with dirt and compost and prepare them for planting. Master gardeners Steve and Diane Henry headed up the master gardeners and gave instructions to the novice gardeners.

Deena Steffl, Target store manager, said, "My Target team was so happy to help. We felt like it was a great opportunity to give back to the community and the first step in making a direct impact on people in our community."

Produce from the garden will be used at the school and also given to the food shelf and United Way's Plant an Extra Row project. This was a great collaboration of business, community, school and United Way, according to organizers.
