United Way now accepting requests for funding
United Way of Douglas and Pope Counties allocation process for 2009/10 agency funding is under way.
Applications are available on the Web at www.uwdp.org or by contacting their office.
Douglas and Pope County funding requests need to be submitted to the United Way office by 4:30 p.m. on January 15, 2010.
United Way funds local 501(c)(3) agencies providing services in the areas of education, income and health.
The new program review panel, consisting of eight to 10 community volunteers, will review the funding needs in April 2010. The United Way board of directors' final funding decisions will be based on panel recommendations.
All community members are invited to participate. For more information on the allocations process or to volunteer to be on a panel, contact Jessica Boyer at (320) 763-4840.
United Way is working to advance the common good by focusing on education, income and health. United Way leaders say these are the building blocks for a good life - a quality education that leads to a stable job, enough income to support a family through retirement and good health.
Their goal is to create long lasting changes that prevent problems from happening in the first place. They invite you to be part of the change.
