United Way to host Project Community Connect
United Way of Douglas and Pope Counties and the Community Impact Coalition will host Project Community Connect at the Runestone Community Center on August 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be 40 different health and human service agencies available and ready to connect people with services.
Attendees will receive assistance with questions about utility bills, finding work, homelessness, reading or writing, chemical dependency, abusive relationships, dealing with debt, legal issues or Medicare. The event will also provide free meals for everyone and backpacks with school supplies for children.
Immediately following the event, a food drop will begin, distributing groceries to those who are in need. It will continue until 4 p.m. or until food runs out.
Volunteers are needed to help set up on August 29 beginning at 9 a.m. and/or throughout the day on August 30. To volunteer, contact United Way at (320) 834-7800.
