Two die in Wadena camper trailer fire
WADENA, Minn. — Authorities have released the names of two people who died early Friday in a fire south of Wadena.
Daniel Suhl and Anne Carlson, both 21 and recently from Wadena, died when the camper trailer they were staying in caught fire and they were unable to escape, according to the Wadena County Sheriff’s Department. The fire was reported just before 4 a.m. Friday.
The blaze, south of Wadena between the city and the Todd County line, has been ruled accidental, Sheriff Michael Carr said.
In Facebook posts Friday and Saturday, the victims’ family and friends expressed shock and sadness at the loss of the young couple.
“Can’t believe the world has lost such a ray of sunshine,” one friend wrote on Carlson’s page.
On Suhl’s page, one family member posted: “Daniel, you will always be remembered as a loving, fun-filled kid.”
A state fire marshall investigation is ongoing, a Minnesota Department of Public Safety spokesman wrote in an e-mail Saturday afternoon.
The sheriff’s office and Wadena Fire Department are assisting the investigation.
