Two ag councils holding board member elections
Minnesota’s Dairy Research and Promotion Council and the Minnesota Turkey Research and Promotion Council are holding elections for board members.
These board members decide where producer check-off dollars are spent.
Dairy elections are broken down by districts at the county and township level and turkey elections are broken down by region. Producers who have not received a ballot in the past, may request one through either the council or Minnesota Department of Agriculture website at www.mda.state. mn.us/en/food/business/commodityballot.aspx.
Board members for the Minnesota Dairy Research and Promotion Council serve a two-year term.
In this area, there is one position open in District 5 (Todd County) and one in District 7 (Douglas, Stevens, Traverse, Pope, Grant counties).
Ballots will be mailed to producers January 10 and must be returned with a January 27 or earlier postmark.
Board members on the Minnesota Turkey Research and Promotion Council serve a three year term.
Ballots will be mailed to producers January 17 and must be returned with a February 3 or earlier postmark.
There is one position open in Region 1, which includes the area counties of Douglas, Pope, Otter Tail, Todd and Grant, among others.
There are also two grower-at-large positions and one breeder-at-large position open.
