Emersyn, who was featured in an Echo Press story on October 5, 2011, has made it her mission to help others by doing something special for someone every single day. She's made gifts for classmates and teachers, volunteers at the food shelf, visits nursing homes, brings gifts to animals at the humane society, helps the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, sends school supplies to kids who need them, collects pop tops for the Ronald McDonald House, mails brightly colored socks to children's hospitals and much more.

"Doing good is the best feeling in the world," she said in the newspaper story.

She started a Facebook page, "Cards for Kids," that encourages others to write stories about children who are ill and need a little cheer. She then sends them unique cards and gifts, specifically designed to bring a smile to their faces.

Just a few weeks ago, she sent a box of pinwheels to the Children's Hospital of Michigan Foundation. The president of the company was so impressed he sent Emersyn a thank you letter, saying, "Your thoughtfulness and generosity will help brighten the lives of pediatric patients in our community who face seemingly insurmountable challenges. Because of you, children and their families are able to bravely face the future with brightened smiles and lightened hearts."
