TSMA awarded grant form West Central Initiative
Tri-State Manufacturers' Association (TSMA) is one of six recipients of West Central Initiative's (WCI) first Competitive Workforce Grant awards.
The new program will improve the economy of West Central Minnesota by providing one year of start-up funding for workforce development strategies that address skill shortages in the region.
TSMA and its grant partner and fiscal host, Bemidji State University's 360o Center of Excellence, were awarded $14,000 to help fund the west central Minnesota Dream It. Do It. campaign.
The campaign works to attract young people to careers in manufacturing through its website, tours of manufacturing and toolkits. The funds will be used for billboards and to develop a game application that will build manufacturing-related skills and knowledge.
The awardees were chosen because of their capacity to meet the needs of employers and workers in west central Minnesota, allow an organization to find ways to address skill shortages and test promising approaches likely to result in people securing jobs that pay family-sustaining incomes.

WCI is a regional community foundation serving the nine west central Minnesota counties of Becker, Clay, Douglas, Grant, Otter Tail, Pope, Stevens, Traverse and Wilkin.
