Road conditions continued to deteriorate throughout the night and early morning hours. Some of the areas received freezing rain and sleet, then later were hit hard by snow and strong winds, making many roads very slippery throughout the region, according to Sergeant Jesse Grabow.

Troopers responded to approximately nine crashes, three of which were rollovers, two resulting in injuries. One of the injury crashes was a two vehicle crash involving a semi and a passenger car, near Alexandria. Another crash south of Alexandria involved a pickup truck and a Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) snowplow; no injuries were reported.

On Interstate 94 between Fergus Falls and Rothsay, a westbound semi truck tractor and trailer spun completely around, jackknifed and came to a stop in the ditch, facing eastbound. An additional 22 vehicles had also slid off the roadways and required tow assistance.

Motorists are reminded to use caution throughout the month of March due to unpredictable weather and roads.
