Tornado touched down near Kensington

The National Weather Service in the Twin Cities issued a Tornado Warning for Southwestern Douglas County Thursday night.

Tornado producing storms were located along a line extending from Hoffman, Minnesota, to 11 miles Southeast of Hoffman to Lake Emily and moving Northeast at 15 miles per hour.

At 4:24 p.m. a tornado touched down near Kensington, Minnesota, on Country Road 1 and State Highway 27. Hail was also observed.

Other locations in the warning included Farwell, Starbuck, Holmes City, Lowry and Brandon.

During tornado warnings, people living in the affected area are encouraged to move into an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building and take cover and avoid windows. Those in a mobile home, a vehicle or outside, should move to the closest substantial shelter and protect themselves from flying debris.
