Kylee Fernholz and Abby VanKempen paced the girls as VanKempen placed third and Fernholz fourth.

"Those two rely on each other so much when racing," head coach John VanKempen said. "When they don't race together, neither finishes as well."

Seventh grader Ella VanKempen made her varsity debut with a 14th-place finish. Hannah Frisch was 37th, Ashton Blair 42nd, Steph Toms 66th and Katie Poyzer was 76th to round out the WCA girls.

Alex Toms paced the WCA boys by taking third.

"He ran a very smart race, sitting back and then picking off the leaders as he closed in on the finish line," VanKempen said.

Ryley Nelson was the Knights next fastest finisher in 11th place. Christian Swenson took 18th, Ethan Olson 23rd, Tyler Schill 35th, Bryce Paulson was 40th and Devin Nelson took 44th for the Knights.
