Theatre L'Homme Dieu 2011 season

• June 21 to 26: Triple Espresso - A Highly Caffeinated Comedy tells the story of three guys whose bid for showbiz fame and fortune ended in four minutes of failure on national television. Hugh Butternut, Buzz Maxwell and Bobby Bean tell their rags-to-riches story earnestly, with hysterical results. Butternut is a musician, a vulnerable soul; Maxwell is an uncertain magician with an attitude; and Bean is an irrepressible, all-over-the-map entertainer with big dreams. The comedy appeals to all ages.

• July 5 to 10: Proof features Kurt Schweickhardt and his daughter, Amy, portraying the close-to-home roles of father and daughter. They tackle the story of Catherine, who, after the death of her father, is left to pull together her own life, a life that was set aside to care for her father, a famous mathematician. She must deal with his legacy - hundreds of notebooks that most likely hold the ramblings of a man slowly losing his genius, but may reveal the last great work of a brilliant mind.

• July 12 to 17: Guys on Ice spends a day in the life of Marvin and Lloyd - fishing buddies and home-grown philosophers. With musical numbers like "The Wishing Hole," "Ode to a Snowmobile Suit," "Fish is the Miracle Food" and "The One That Got Away," this exploration about the world of ice fishing is a serious anthropological study as well as a musical comedy.

• July 26 to 31: Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is the story of two crafty con artists who try to out-con each other. When it becomes apparent that the Riviera isn't big enough for both of them, they make a winner-takes-all wager over the fortunes of a naïve American soap heiress. The first to clean her out can make the other clear out and keep the Riviera and its unsuspecting tourists to himself.

• August 2 to 7: The final show of the 2011 season will be announced.

Each show is held Tuesday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Performances are in TLHDS's Bursch Family Hall, 1875 County Road 120 Northeast in Alexandria.
