The Tickwood String Band to perform free concert Thursday
The Tickwood String Band will perform at the Red Willow Arts Coalition free concert on Thursday, August 16 at 7 p.m. on the lawn at the Douglas County Courthouse in Alexandria.
The band has been playing music for dances and concerts around the region for more than seven years.
Although considered an "old time" band playing Appalachian fiddle tunes and string band music, the Tickwoods also like to delve into Irish music.
The four musicians are known for their high energy, good humor and fun-for-all-ages entertainment.
Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. In the event of inclement weather, listen to KXRA 1400 AM for cancellation information.
The series is sponsored by Anderson Funeral Home and Elden's Fresh Foods.
The Red Willow Arts Coalition is a nonprofit organization with a mission to provide the community with access to more musical experiences.
