Three Osakis relays qualify for state finals

The Osakis relay teams had a strong day at the state track and field meet as three qualified for the finals in the preliminaries on Friday at Hamline University.

The Osakis 4x200 team finished second-fastest among 14 teams in the preliminaries on Friday. Makayla Hoglin, Brittney Sadlemyer, Abigail Stroup and Hannah Szech teamed up for a time of 1:45.92.

A preliminary time of 50.78 for the Osakis 4x100 relay team of Tianna Stanek, Alexa Hoffarth, Taylor Kraemer and Sadlemyer gave it sixth place out of 14 schools.

Osakis is the defending champions in the 4x400 relays heading into the state competition. This year’s team of Hoglin, Sadlemyer, Samantha Jones and Hannah Szech took sixth out of 14 teams with a time of 4:05.02.

Individually, Kayla Sorenson finished in 13th place by clearing a jump of 5-00.00.

Tomorrow Lauren Savageau will also compete in the 1,600 run for Osakis.
