'Terrific Kids' are recognized

Sixth graders at Lincoln, Voyager, Zion and Woodland elementary schools in Alexandria, Garfield and Carlos elementary schools were recently named Terrific Kids.

Terrific Kids is an elementary program of Kiwanis International. Kids who improve themselves and do good things for others in school, at home and in the community are recognized with a Certificate of Achievement.

Top achievers also receive a business award from one of several business sponsors. Their pictures are on display at the Viking Plaza Mall.

On May 18 and 19, the final Terrrific Kids award ceremonies for the school year were held. Results are as follows:

At Lincoln, 28 kids received Certificates of Achievement with 15 receiving business/volunteer awards, including Conor Allen, Reese Bogatski, Blair Eckstein, Taylor Esbjornsson, Olivia Harkias, Isabelle Hartokolis, Kelsie Hlinsky, Amy Jost, Madisyn Klimek, Abbie Massmann, Olivia Peterson, Griffin Runge, Elisabeth Thorson, Henry Wirtjes and Zach Wohlfeil.

At Voyager, 52 students received Certificates of Achievement with 15 receiving business/volunteer awards, including Kailey Anderson, Victoria Baas, Taylor Coker, Abby DeReamer, Emily Erickson, Lynnsey Fieldhammer, Brooklyn Krohnfeldt, Dylan Larson, Morgan Melrose, Kaylee Mueller, Marissa Otto, Luke Schmitz, Alexis Streich, Wyatt Wittenburg and Grant Zwilling.

At Woodland, 41 students received Certificates of Achievement with 16 receiving business/volunteer awards, including Emily Bear, Joseph Berger, Kalley Blade, Josh Brezina, Robby Davis, Chelsea Drown, Dakotah Gifford, Briena Jarvi, Ashlynne Jeseritz, Sonja Johnson, Madison Keller, Jaela Pearson, Grant Rudolph, Austin Strong, Jessica Wahl and Sara Wegner.

At Zion, 13 5th and 6th graders received Certificates of Achievement with five receiving business/volunteer awards, including Moriah Bartolomeo, Mitch Fischer, Jessica Kutz, Kirsten Olson and Jered Zwiers.

At Garfield, 17 students received Certificates of Achievement with five receiving business/volunteer awards, including Sarah Buse, Chris Call, Karsen Granning, Megan Neubauer and Katie Wussow.

At Carlos, nine students received Certificates of Achievement with four receiving business/volunteer awards, including Chad Blank, Emily Dreger, Geoffrey Griepentrog and Ryan Myhr.

The Terrific Kids program is completed for the school year. For the six schools combined there were a total of 596 Certificates of Achievement given out along with 236 Business Awards. Eighty-six percent of the students participated in the program. Garfield finished at 100 percent participation and Woodland at 95 percent.
