Temperature facts can’t be refuted
To the editor:
This is in response to Dr. Creek’s letter (Echo Press, October 2) stating that “Antarctica is growing.”
It was clever she changed the conversation from Minnesota to Antarctica, to which locals do not give much attention. It piqued my interest because I have a vested interest in that beautiful continent. The discussion on that excursion was the continued melting, not the expansion of snow or ice.
Johnson’s original letter stated that climate is changing in Minnesota and not to our benefit. We are not looking forward to fish and wildlife extinction and frequent droughts, which threaten our food supply. All that Co2 we are dumping into our atmosphere has no choice but to trap heat (It is a chemical, Dr. Creek.) and it is changing the temperate weather humankind has enjoyed for the last 10,000 years.
In Minnesota, measurements dating back to the 1800s show a steady rise in annual temperatures. These facts cannot be refuted by people who are fed a steady diet of misinformation by the likes of the Heritage Foundation, Manhattan Institute and the Heartland Institute, all funded by the fossil fuel interests and the likes of the infamous Koch brothers.
Dr. Creek, please consult the experts at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAH), The Geologic Society of America, or maybe the National Aeronautic and Space Administration (NASA). I trust their unbiased research.
