Tech snaps Alex tennis win streak
The Cardinal tennis team had its 10-match winning streak snapped by a talented St. Cloud Tech team last Thursday.
The Tigers came in as the top team in the Central Lakes Conference and played like it in a 7-0 win. They dropped just three games in the first set throughout the lineup and took care of every match in straight sets.
Hannah Vickstrom was able to push her opponent at fourth singles before falling 6-4 in the second set. The duos of Ellie Bergstrand and Rachel Sjostrand and Kim and Kerri Wilkins did the same at first and second doubles before ultimately falling 6-4 in the second.
“No other matches were very close at all and I have to say that the Tigers are a much-improved team from earlier in the season,” head coach Dave Ronning said. “They really don’t have a weakness, and it was tough for our girls to manage the games they did get.”
The loss dropped Alexandria to 15-5 overall and to 7-3 in the CLC.
