Tea Party forms in Alexandria; another meeting set Monday
A Tea Party has formed in Alexandria.
A group of residents interested in the Tea Party movement met at Raaper's Sports Bar and Grill in Alexandria last night. They talked about out-of-control government spending, the need for prayer, and what each individual can do to help protect freedoms, according to the members.
Those attending were assigned to various duties for future Tea Party events, including guest speaker arrangements - Will and Hilda Bettermann and Sandy Jackson; master of ceremony committee - Jim Korkowski; location and sound system - Liz Gorham, Jim Korkowski; promotion - Gary Seth, Steve Schwartz, Jill Tally; treasurer - Karen Thul; grounds equipment - Daryl Berghuis; entertainment and concessions - Liz Gorham; and newspaper commentary - Nevin Smith Sr.
Another meeting is set for Monday, August 2 at the lower level of Raaper's, starting at 5:30 p.m. Anyone interested is invited to attend.
