Tastefully Simple helps fight childhood hunger
Tastefully Simple consultants from across the country will come together on August 12 to help fight childhood hunger in Minnesota.
More than 100 consultants will donate more than 450 hours of time to the cause, and Share Our Strength will present $7,500 to several Minneapolis-based hunger-fighting non-profits to demonstrate how the larger donation of $135,000 to Share Our Strength impacts local communities.
Tastefully Simple is partnering with Share Our Strength - the leading national organization working to end childhood hunger in America. Leading up to Tastefully Simple's national conference, independent consultants will volunteer at five Minneapolis-area organizations supported by Share Our Strength.
To raise funds for the cause, Tastefully Simple donates $1 from the sale of every box of For the Love of Cookies Chocolate Chip Toffee Almond Cookie Mix to Share Our Strength. Since the company introduced For the Love of Cookies in March 2009, Tastefully Simple consultants have sold more than 135,000 boxes to raise more than $135,000 to help end childhood hunger.
"It is important for us to not only raise funds and awareness, but to also give our consultants a chance to show their support in a hands-on way," said LaTresse Snead, Tastefully Simple's community relations team lead. "The issue of childhood hunger has personally touched a number of our consultants who've either experienced it firsthand or know others who have."
According to Share Our Strength, childhood hunger has become a critical issue in the United States. Currently more than 12.4 million children in America - one out of six - are at risk of hunger.
It is Tastefully Simple's goal to sell 500,000 boxes by March 2010 for a $500,000 donation to Share Our Strength.
