Take a trip to Sunset Boulevard
Minneapolis Musical Theatre (MMT), the company that brought its production of Gilligan's Island to the Theatre L'Homme Dieu (TLHD) stage in Alexandria last summer, will present Sunset Boulevard Tuesday through Saturday, August 6-10 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, August 11 at 2 p.m. at TLHD.
Prices range from $17.50 to $22.50.
The musical, based on the 1950s movie of the same name, weaves a tale of faded glory and unfulfilled ambition.
The plot revolves around Norma Desmond, who is living the life of a washed-up star of the silent screen in a decaying mansion on fabled Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles. Romance, tragedy and comedy follow as a young writer gets mixed up with Desmond while planning her big comeback.
Directed by Steven Meerdink, MMT's artistic director, this is the second production in the partnership between Hennepin Theatre Trust and MMT.
The original Broadway musical, directed by Trevor Nunn with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, won seven 1995 Tony Awards including Best Musical.
