Take the plunge!
Brrring it on! Plungers put it all on the line as they jump to frozen glory to raise money for Special Olympics Minnesota. Registration for the 2014 Alexandria Polar Bear Plunge is now open.
The local plunge will be held on Sunday, February 23 at 1 p.m. at Arrowwood Resort and Conference Center, Alexandria.
Pre-check-in will be held Saturday, February 22 at the Elks Lodge, 115 15th Avenue West, Alexandria. Day of the plunge check-in will be held at the plunge site.
The funds raised benefit approximately 7,800 Special Olympics Minnesota athletes. In 2013, more than 510 brave souls took the Plunge in Alexandria and raised approximately $96,148.
Participants may Plunge as individuals or in teams. Each participant must raise a minimum of $75. The average Plunger raised $210 in 2013.
Bring the pledges along to the check-in on the day of the plunge. Shoes and a towel are also required.

The first Polar Bear Plunge took place at Como Lake in St. Paul. Since then, the Plunge has expanded to 16 locations across Minnesota.
Plunge events are organized by Minnesota law enforcement as part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run, the largest grassroots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle for Special Olympics in the world.
