Stuff-A-Truck food drive enters 13th year
The 13th annual Stuff-A-Truck Food Drive for the Outreach Food Shelf of Douglas County is on its way. The date for this year’s food drive is Sunday, November 3 through Saturday, November 16.
Students and faculty at District 206 schools are encouraged to bring non-perishable groceries and select non-food products to school.
The Stuff-A-Truck semi will travel to all of the District 206 schools to pick up the donations on Friday, November 15 starting at 8:50 a.m., with pick-up completed by 12:30 p.m.
The public can also donate non-food items and non-perishable food products to an in-store collection point at Pete’s County Market in Alexandria.
Pete’s County Market will sell Random Bags of Kindness, which contain personal hygiene items. Customers may purchase a bag and drop it off at the in-store collection point. The cost of the bag is $9.99.
Needed items include peanut butter, pasta, rice, toothpaste, canned goods, cleaning supplies, shampoo/conditioner, soups, deodorant, diapers, baby food, bar soap and more.
Last year, 18,000 pounds of food were collected, and 252 Random Bags of Kindness were delivered to the local food shelf, along with $500 of cash donated.
