Student accomplishments, graduates and honors
Kyle Fulghum, the son of David and Bonnie Fulghum of Alexandria, was honored with the Outstanding Graduate in Biological Chemistry Award from Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri. He graduated from Evangel in May 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in biological chemistry.
Army National Guard Private Charles Jahnke Jr. graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, South Carolina. During the nine weeks of training, he studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training and more. Jahnke is the son of Charles Jahnke Sr. of Parkers Prairie. He is a 2011 graduate of Parkers Prairie High School.

Jaimie Beavers of Alexandria, the daughter of Janet and John Beavers, graduated from St. Catherine University in St. Paul on May 23. She received a Bachelor of Science in social work and graduated cum laude. She is a 2008 graduate of Jefferson High School in Alexandria.
Stephanie Shimota of Alexandria received the D.J. Robertson Award for the spring 2013 semester at the University of North Dakota for achieving a grade point average of 4.0 and completing a minimum of 12 graded hours of academic coursework.
