Brad Dumm recently joined Lake Country Carpet in Alexandria. Dumm will act as a sales consultant at the new Lake Country Carpet Store at 1015 State Highway 29 North. He has lived in Alexandria since 1972 and worked in floor covering for the last 32 years. He and his wife, Sue, who taught in District 206 until her retirement, have three children.
Douglas Scientific, a provider of Array Tape for high throughput applications in bioscience laboratories, announced the appointment of Haley Guerrier to the position of senior sales executive. In this position, Guerrier will play a strategic role in entering new markets and attaining market share goals in the life sciences and biotech industry.
Prior to joining Douglas Scientific, Guerrier served as a senior instrument sales representative with Life Technologies of Carlsbad, California. Guerrier has been a key player in growing market share for the companies she has represented and brings 20 years of experience in life science sales to Douglas Scientific.
Army Reserve Colonel Julie Engdahl, the daughter of John and Bernice Engdahl of Alexandria, was decorated with the Defense Meritorious Service Medal. It is awarded to individuals for non-combat meritorious achievement or service that is incontestably exceptional. Engdahl is the chief of exercises assigned to the Surface Deployment and Distribution Command at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. She has served in the military for 27 years and has two children.
Dr. Kim Rauk of Rauk Family Dentistry in Alexandria was selected as the recipient of the Minnesota Dental Association (MDA) 2013 New Dentist Leadership Award. She was honored by almost 9,000 dental professionals at MDA's annual convention.
Rauk has been actively involved in organized dentistry at the district, state, and national levels. She volunteers at Caring Hands Dental Clinic in Alexandria, at Give Kids a Smile and at area schools during Children's Dental Health month. She has been a speaker and presenter at Leadership Alexandria, an Alexandria Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce event, a long-standing member of the Lakes Area Professional Women, a member of the Alexandria Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce, and a junior achievement and church volunteer.
She graduated in 2003 from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry and opened her practice in Alexandria the next year.
All-Pro Childcare Center in Alexandria announced the addition of a new preschool teacher, Lisa Thole. According to staff at All-Pro Childcare Center, Thole has many years of child care experience and is a great addition to their team.
Matthew Westad was promoted to the rank of technical sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. He is a trainer/development team subject matter expert assigned to the 437th Airlift Wing at Charleston Air Force Base, South Carolina. He has served in the military for 10 years.
Westad is the son of Lynn and Julie Westad of Parkers Prairie. He graduated in 2001 from Parkers Prairie High School and received an associate of science in 2002 from Alexandria Technical College. He also earned an associate degree in 2005 from the Community College of the Air Force in Montgomery, Alabama.

Rebekah Mattocks, assistant director of home care for Knute Nelson in Alexandria, was named Home Care Professional of the Year by the Minnesota Home Care Association at its annual conference.
Ryan Peterson is the newest loan officer at the First National Bank of Osakis. A graduate with a degree in finance and credit management from Alexandria Technical College, Peterson is moving back from St. Cloud, where he spent the past six years working in finance at Preferred Credit, Inc. He is currently working in the area of consumer lending and will soon work in residential real estate lending.
