Street department gives pickup truck to Lakes Area Rec
Lakes Area Recreation (LAR) has a new vehicle - thanks to the Alexandria Street Department.
But "new" isn't the right word. It's a 1989 Chevrolet half-ton pickup that's worth about $1,500.
The street department was using the truck as its mechanic's truck for fixing signs. The street department is getting a new sign truck that has the capabilities of installing and repairing signs on the spot.
Public Works Coordinator Bryan Bjorgaard asked for the city council's approval to give the pickup to LAR for its summer-time activities.
The council approved the request at its November 22 meeting, designating it as in-kind contribution from the city under the joint powers agreement it has with LAR.
