• Alexandria Industries recently announced that Steve Schabel was promoted to its chief sales and marketing officer and Chris Flemming was named general manager of its Alexandria Extrusion South location in Carrollton, Texas.

Schabel joined the company 10 years ago and will lead sales and marketing activities that harness resources from Alexandria Industries' market experts and design engineering and manufacturing services from its six U.S. central corridor locations.

Flemming will manage all operations and broaden the South location's heat transfer and thermal management offerings. He replaced former Alexandria Extrusion South president, Jeff McReynolds. Flemming has been an Alexandria Industries team member from 1992 to 1999 and 2002 to the present.

Alexandria Industries is headquartered in Alexandria, with manufacturing locations in Minnesota, Indiana and Texas.

• American Solutions for Business (ASB) was recently rated by two industry leaders. Promo Marketing magazine produced by North American Publishing Company, rated ASB number 11 in the nation for sales of promotional products. Counselor magazine, a publication of Advertising Specialty Institute, rated ASB number 14 on their list of the Top 40 distributors.

• A portion of proceeds from every Blizzard Treat purchased at participating Dairy Queens (DQ) will be donated to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals on Thursday, August 8 as part of the eighth annual Miracle Treat Day.

On Miracle Treat Day, participating DQ stores and restaurants throughout North America donate $1 or more to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals per Blizzard Treat sold. All monies raised by DQ operators benefit Gillette Children's Specialty Healthcare, the nation's first hospital for children who have disabilities.

Participating DQ stores throughout Minnesota and western Wisconsin raised nearly $200 million on Miracle Treat Day last year.

• Kayla Olson is the second quarter's recipient of AmericInn's Outstanding Performance Award. Olson is a guest service representative at the AmericInn of Alexandria. She has been employed with AmericInn for two years, and this is her first time receiving this award.

• Molly Vigen, who grew up in Alexandria and is the daughter of Tom and Mary Jane Reif, recently accepted the position of technology trainer at AgCountry Farm Credit Services in Fargo, North Dakota. She was previously employed at Sanford Health in Fargo as an IT trainer.

Vigen hold a double major in management information systems and business administration and a minor in computer science from North Dakota State University. She and her husband, Brent, have three children.

• Scott Larson of the financial services firm Edward Jones in Alexandria recently won the firm's exclusive Spirit of Caring Award, which was designed to recognize those financial advisors who exemplify the values, culture and spirit of giving back. Larson was one of 213 financial advisors out of the firm's more than 12,000 to receive the award.
