State Class A track and field: Kashmark is state runner-up
Beau Kashmark of West Central Area earned runner-up honors in the State Class A boys' track and field meet at Hamline University Friday, hitting a distance of 43' 9.75". He trailed champion Caleb Hamp-Sill who had a jump of 43' 11".
Ashby/Brandon-Evansville's Megan Friedrich missed qualifying for the 100-meter hurdle finals with a 10th place finish in 16.43. The top finisher was Bree Woelber of Pipestone in 15.46.
Minnewaska's Halle Christianson finished 16th in 1:02.43 in the 400-meter dash preliminaries and did not make the finals. Malayshia George of the Breck School was first in 56.95.
Aimee Allen of Osakis was 12th in the long jump finals with a distance of 15' 6.25". Winning the title was Analisa Huschle of Bagley/Fosston with a jump of 18' 2.5".
Minnewaska's Brandi Otto finished ninth overall in the discus with a throw of 112' 6". The state champion was Hannah Steele of Windom with a 119' 11" throw.
Kyle Toms of West Central Area finished 16th in the 3,200-meter run finals with a time of 10:01.06. The state championship went to Mason Ferlic of Mounds Park in 9:17.68.
The Class A championships continue tomorrow, Saturday, at 3 p.m.
