Ashby-Brandon-Evansville's Caroline Jansen earned her way to the podium twice this past weekend as the junior finished ninth in the long jump before returning on Saturday for a third-place finish in the triple jump.


Jansen stretched for a 36'1" jump in the triple to earn her medal. Her long jump distance on Friday was 16'6.75".

Winning the long jump was Deidre Hahn with a distance of 17'2.75", with the triple jump crown going to Katie Heilman of Watertown-Mayer with a distance of 37'4.5".

Jansen's teammate, Megan Friedrich, who was in the field for the 100-meter hurdles, ran a 16.56, short of qualifying for the finals. Jaelyn Beach of Staples-Motley repeated as champion in the event, running at 15:12.

Ashby-Brandon-Evansville finished 35th as a team with 35 points.

West Central Area's Daniel Schack was ninth in the high jump, clearing 6'2" and Matt Neururer of Pillager had a jump of 6'6" to win the title.

The Knights' 4x800-meter relay team of John Olhoft, Tyler Schill, Bryce Paulson and Alex Toms did not place as they finished with a time of 8:44.88. Perham topped the field with a time of 7:57.58.

Kylee Fernholz of WCA, who qualified for the 800-meter run, ran a 2:21.68 on Friday in the preliminaries, missing the cut. Emi Trost of Cannon Falls won the event with a time of 2:15.05.
