State Class A gymnastics: Wendel wins vault title, Briquelle Bowden claims beam championship
Alexandria sophomore Hannah Wendel posted a total 9.7875 in the vault to claim the State Class A championship on that event Saturday, and senior Briquelle Bowden claimed the beam championship with a score of 9.6125.
Briquelle earned runner-up honors in the All-Around, posting a total 37.95 and trailing only Sela Fadness of Austin with a final score of 38.5. Cardinal freshman Tahlia Bowden finished 27th in the All-Around with a score of 34.80.
Briquelle was the runner-up on the uneven bars with a score of 9.45, while Tahlia had a score of 8.1625 on that event. Briquelle posted a score of 9.5375 in the vault and finished 12th on floor with a 9.35, while Tahlia was right behind her sister on the bars with a score of 9.45 and an 8.2 on the floor. She also finished the beam with a score of 8.9875.
