State Class AA boys' track and field:

Behind junior Colin Guetter's eighth place finish in the discus (see separate story), the Cardinal boys picked up two points at the State Class AA track and field meet at Hamline University Friday and Saturday.

In all, sixth athletes competed for Alexandria.

Seniors James Holmquist, Nathan Huss and Donovan Chock, along with junior Mitch Peck, ran a 44.47 in the 4x100-meter prelims Friday, good for a ninth place finish, but not quite enough to advance to Saturday's finals. The event was won by Forest Lake with a time of 42.43.

Peck claimed eighth place in his heat of Friday's 300-meter hurdle prelims with a 41.61, not advancing to the finals either. Cody Walton of Forest Lake took the crown with a time of 37.60.

In the 800-meter run, senior Zac Bartolomeo was unable to advance to the finals, finishing seventh in his heat with a time of 1:57.31. His event was won by Matthew Rosen of Jefferson with a 1:53.02.
