St. Paul man dies of medical condition while boating on Lake Osakis
On Saturday, an evening out on Lake Osakis turned into an attempt to save a man's life.
According to Todd County Sheriff Pete Mikkelson, around 6:23 p.m., a group of people on the water noticed what appeared to be an unoccupied boat moving across the lake.
The group was able to catch up to the moving boat and get alongside it when they noticed a man in the boat suffering a medical condition.
One of the passengers was able to get into the victim's boat, stop it and start performing CPR on the man.
The group towed the man's boat to shore while continuing CPR.
Despite their heroic efforts, Lawrence Fink, 67, of St. Paul was pronounced dead when rescuers met the boats on shore.
