Hole-in-one at Miltona

Michael Gramer of Lino Lakes had the first hole-in-one of the season at the Miltona Golf Club on May 25.

Gramer was using a pitching wedge when he aced the 147 yard, par three eighth hole.

VFW baseball tournament in Alexandria

The Alexandria VFW baseball teams are holding their first tournament at Knute Nelson Field this weekend with games being played Friday through Sunday.

Games will start at 9 a.m. each of those days and run through a final start time of 8 p.m. The Alexandria 16s will play their first game on Friday at 8 p.m. against Irondale and the Alexandria 15s will open up against Fargo at 9 a.m.

FCA summer camps

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes is asking those interested in camps to sign up by June 15 to receive a discounted price where the Alexandria FCA will pay half of the camp fee.

Sports camps run June 30 –July 3, a golf camp runs July 13-15 and leadership camp is August 1-3. Call Dee Novotny at (320) 815-0669 to sign up or for more information.

Atikwa Ladies Golf Invite

The Atikwa Ladies Golf League is inviting anyone who is interested in joining the league to play a nine-hole scramble on June 17 at 9 a.m.

Green fees are compliments of the golf club. There will be a $5 fee per person for a golf cart and lunch and door prizes will follow.

AGC Junior Golf Academy and Girls Golf of Alexandria

The Alexandria Golf Club’s Junior Golf Academy starts June 12 and runs through August 21.

Sessions for golfers ages 5-10 will take place on Thursday mornings during that time, while sessions for kids ages 11-15 will take place on Friday mornings. All girls and boys from the Alexandria area are welcome to participate.

The LPGE-USGA Girls Golf of Alexandria event is also taking place on June 11 from 5-7 p.m. All girls ages 7-17 are welcome to attend.

Shalom Runs

The Shalom Lutheran Church runs are scheduled for Saturday, July 5, with a 5K, 10K, one-mile walk and 1K kids run taking place that day.

Registration for the races starts at 7 a.m. with the 5K and 10K beginning at 8. The one-mile walk will start at 8:05 and the kids’ run will take place at 9:10 with all of them taking off from the Shalom Lutheran Church at 681 Voyager Drive.

Cap Paciotti Memorial Golf Tournament

The Cardinal Athletic Foundation’s Cap Paciotti Memorial Golf Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, June 14 at the Alexandria Golf Club.

This year’s honoree is former Jefferson High School health and physical education teacher and varsity basketball and baseball coach Roger Johnson.

A shotgun start will begin at 1 p.m. that day with a dinner and awards presentation to follow at 5. The tournament will feature a four-person handicapped scramble, field events, hole-in-one contests and skins and mulligans available at registration.

The entry fee is $500 for a four-person team. That includes green fees, cart, range balls, field events and dinner. Extra dinner tickets are $25. Proceeds from the fundraiser go to the Cardinal Athletic Foundation, which since its inception has provided more than $125,000 to support Alexandria Cardinals athletics.

Alex youth soccer registration

The Alexandria Area Soccer Association is accepting registrations for Soccer tots through U8 soccer players.

Registration for junior golf lessons at the Scott Dirck Golf Academy is now open.

United Way golf classic

The United Way’s Golf Classic is scheduled for Monday, June 9 at the Geneva Golf Club.

A shotgun start is scheduled for noon that day with prize drawings and a barbecue following at 5 p.m. Registration is available online at www.uwdp.org or by calling United Way at (320) 834-7800.

Cardinal boys’ basketball camp

The Alexandria boys’ basketball program will host a basketball camp from June 16-19 at the Discovery Middle School Gym for those in grades kindergarten through seventh.

Camp directors will be Alexandria head coach Forrest Witt, along with assistant coaches Tom Miller and Ty Granning. Former and current Alexandria boys’ basketball players will also help out.

The camp will focus on fundamental and skill development, defensive, offensive and transition play, intangible keys and concepts to success, along with goal setting and teamwork philosophies.

Kindergarten through first graders ($30 fee) will run from 8-9 a.m. Second and third graders ($45 fee) from 9-10:30 a.m. Fourth and fifth graders ($60) are from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and sixth and seventh graders ($60 fee) will run from 1-3 p.m.

Alexandria boys’ basketball youth league

The Alexandria boys’ basketball program is hosting a youth basketball league for grades four through seven that starts on June 23 and runs on Mondays and Wednesdays through July 16.

The cost is $50. Fourth and fifth grade boys will go from 8-9:30 a.m. with sixth and seventh graders going from 9:30-11. Each league day will consist of one hour of instruction and skill development work, followed by 30 minutes of pick-up games of three-on-three and five-on-five.
