Cards receive Sportsmanship Award
The Alexandria boys’ cross country team earned the Central Lakes Conference Sportsmanship Award after also solidifying a spot at the state meet earlier this month.
CLC Performer of the Week
Alexandria’s Melissa Drown was named the Central Lakes Conference performer of the week on November 18 in girls’ hockey.
Drown, a senior captain for the Cardinals, did her part to help Alexandria to a 4-0 start by scoring three goals and tallying six assists in three games during the week.
Wood to speak at FCA Thanksgiving luncheon
Alexandria’s Brock Wood is the scheduled speaker at the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) annual Thanksgiving luncheon on November 27.
Wood is a former three-sport athlete for Alexandria and a Hodgkin’s lymphoma survivor. He paddled the Mississippi River this past summer to help raise money for Hodgkin’s lymphoma research. Wood will have a presentation and share stories from his trip down the Mississippi and how his faith helped him through it.
The lunch is set for noon on November 27 at the Broadway Ballroom with a free-will offering.
YMCA Turkey Day 5K
The Alexandria Area YMCA is hosting the 3rd annual Turkey Day 5K on Thanksgiving Day, November 28 at the YMCA.
The race is open to both members and non-members. Check-in and registration begins at 6:30 a.m. followed by an 8 a.m. race start. The race begins at the YMCA, continues along the Central Lakes Trail and finishes back at the YMCA.
