Family tennis night
The Alexandria Area Tennis Association, along with From the Heart Dentistry, is hosting a family tennis night session from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 15 at the Discovery Middle School tennis courts.
In addition to playing tennis, those in attendance will also get a chance to meet the varsity girls' tennis players. The varsity players will be available to interact and hit tennis balls with children attending the event. Children should be accompanied by an adult.
Hole-in-ones at Nordic Trails
Butch Blake was one of four golfers who carded a hole-in-one at the Nordic Trails Golf Course in the last month.
Blake was using a five wood from 135 yards when he aced the par-3 fourth hole on August 4. Wayne Kruger, Fred Hemquist and John Potratz were golfing with him at the time.
Alexandria's Kyle Blank got an ace at Nordic Trails on July 25. He was golfing with Chad Roquette, Ryan Spencer and Justin Hansen when he aced the 109-yard eighth hole.
Melvin Boeson of Alexandria got a hole-in-one on the 135-yard fourth hole at Nordic Trails. He was playing alone at the time on July 15.
On July 10, John Weber of Alexandria shot a hole-in-one on the 109-yard eighth hole at Nordic Trails. Weber used a wedge on the shot. He was playing with Terry Schake and Bob Wallgren.
3-on-3 basketball league in Alexandria
Midwest 3-on-3 is hosting 3-on-3 basketball league this fall in Alexandria.
The dates for the second annual Alexandria league are on the Sundays of September 15, 22, 29 and October 6 and 13. They run from 4-9 p.m. and will be played at Discovery Middle School.
Boys and girls in grades 4-12 as of the fall of 2013 can register to play in the tournament. Cost is $55 per player with a $10 online registration fee per team. The Registration deadline is August 25. There will be a $20 late fee for those who sign up after the late registration deadline of September 5.

Harvest Duathlon race
The third annual Harvest Duathlon will take place August 31 at 9 a.m. at Discovery Middle School in Alexandria.
The race consists of a 2.5-mile run, a 13-mile bike ride followed by another 2.3-mile run. There are a maximum of 200 entries for the race. There will also be a kids' duathlon on Friday, August 30 at 6 p.m. for kids ages 2-10.

Fall dance team program
Lakes Area Recreation will hold dance team training for girls in grades 7-12 with no tryouts necessary.
The program will serve as a starting point and training for dancers who are either interested in or part of the winter competitive Cardinal dance team.
Basic jazz and kick techniques as well as endurance and stretching will be part of the practices, which will culminate in a performance at a Cardinal football game this fall.
