Hole-in-one at Nordic

Justin Johnson of Alexandria carded a hole-in-one at Nordic Trails Golf Course on June 23.

Johnson used a pitching wedge on the 135-yard fourth hole. He was playing with his father, Randy, and brother, Logan.

Cardinal track

and field camp

Jefferson High School girls' track coach Meghan Orgeman Crumb is heading up a Cardinal track and field camp every Wednesday from July 10-31.

Experienced coaches will help students learn proper technique and find where their strengths are in track and field. There will be an intersquad meet where students will be awarded for their achievements during the final week of camp.

Each of the four sessions will run from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at Citizen's Field. Cost is $16 for all four sessions. Register online through Community Education at www.alexandria.thatscommunityed.com or by calling (320) 762-3310.

Senior fishing day

The Viking Sportsmen will host senior fishing day on July 10 from 1-3 p.m. with a fish fry supper following that from 3-5 p.m.

Any seniors interested in fishing will take off from the Arrowwood Resort and Conference Center around 3 that afternoon. The meal will follow at the 4H Building on the fairgrounds following the day on the lake.

Cardinal soccer camp

The Alexandria Area Soccer Association (AASA) will host a "Train with the Pros" camp the week of July 22.

The program is for boys and girls going into grades 1 through 6 and girls and boys going into grades 9 through 12. It is under the direction of girls' varsity coach Tom Roos. Guest coaches will include past professional players, collegiate standouts and college coaches.

Scott Dirck's golf camps

The Scott Dirck Golf Academy will host three more golf tournaments this summer for young golfers looking to take their game to the next level.

Shalom Run July 6

The third annual Shalom Run 5K/10K/1 Mile Walk/ and 1K kids run will take place Saturday July 6.

Those interested can pre-register on zapevent.com. Pre-registration is $15 for runners and walkers and $10 for kids.

On the day of registration, the cost is $20 for runners and $10 for kids.

Race day registration begins at 7a.m. and the 5K/10K start at 8 a.m., while the one-mile walk begins at 8:10 a.m. The Kids 1K begins at 9:15 a.m.

Parent/daughter fun shoot

The local Pheasants Forever chapter and the Viking Sportsmen will team up to host a parent/daughter fun shoot on July 16 at 6 p.m.

The event will take place at the Alexandria Shooting Park. Free clays, shells and a meal are included. The parent and daughter, ages 12-17, will both be allowed to shoot. Guns will be available to those who don't have their own gun to bring.

No shooting experience is necessary and all skill levels are welcome. Call Brad Brejcha at (320) 762-4055 to reserve a spot.

Registration is open for the Heartland Orthopedic Specialist's 2013 PEAK Performance, a growth and development program aimed at helping young athletes acquire skill, maximize athletic potential and reduce the risk of injury.

Swing for kids

The Alexandria Area YMCA and Fellowship of Christian Athletes will hold a golf scramble at the Alexandria Golf Club as a fundraiser for the YMCA financial assistance program and the FCA camp scholarships.

Cost is $125 per individual and $500 per team. Registration includes golf, cart, dinner and program.

Fall dance team program

Lakes Area Recreation will hold dance team training for girls in grades 7-12 with no tryouts necessary.

The program will serve as a starting point and training for dancers who are either interested in or part of the winter competitive Cardinal dance team.

Basic jazz and kick techniques as well as endurance and stretching will be part of the practices, which will culminate in a performance at a Cardinal football game this fall.

Softball tournament in Little Falls

The second annual Michael "Lody" Lodermeier Memorial softball tournament, set for Saturday, July 27 in Little Falls, is looking for teams.

The double-elimination tournament will be at the Lindbergh Lions Recreational Complex softball fields at 8th Street and 2nd Avenue Southwest. Games begin at 9 a.m.

Cost is $150 per team with the prize money determined by the number of entrants.

Holy Moly Ole Series

Lakes Area Recreation will again hold the Holy Moly Ole series of races, with all proceeds going directly to youth programs and scholarships.

Races will be held on Saturdays, July 20 and August 10 and will feature a 5K run, 10K run and family 5K walk. The final event will also feature a 15K run.

Cost is $20 per runner, $15 for the family 5K walkers and $10 for individual 5K walkers.
