La Crosse 9, Alexandria 1

The Blue Anchors fell to 4-11 in the second half and 13-36 overall after a 9-1 loss to the La Crosse Loggers on Wednesday night.

Alexandria starter Jason Zgardowski took the loss and fell to 1-7 on the season after allowing five runs, four earned, on nine hits. He struck out one.

The Loggers had two three-run innings in the fourth and ninth frames to blow the game open. Alexandria’s offense continued to struggle, scoring just the one run on seven hits. Craig Nennig had two of those, driving in the team’s only run in the eighth inning.

The Blue Anchors have scored the least amount of runs in the Northwoods League this season with 197.
