Albert Baur was recently selected as one of three Blue Anchors players to play in next Tuesday's NWL All-Star game, and he played like an all-star on Tuesday night.
Baur capped off a dramatic comeback in the ninth inning by smashing a walk-off grand slam to lead Alexandria (15-32, 5-8 second half) to a 12-10 win over Thunder Bay. It was the second home run of the night for Baur as he finished with five RBIs. The Blue Anchors had entered the bottom of the ninth trailing 10-6.
Georgie Salem, another all-star for Alexandria, finished 3-for-5 with a double, three runs scored and two RBIs. Pitcher Chase Rihtarchik didn't throw last night but he will also represent Alexandria in next week's all-star game.
Alexandria 6, Moorhead 2; Moorhead 5, Alexandria 4
The Alexandria Post 87 Legion team split two games in Carlos, winning game one 6-2 before falling 5-4 in the nightcap against Moorhead.
Alexandria will be at Willmar this Thursday for a nine-inning exhibition game that will start at 6:30 p.m.
