The Alexandria girls' soccer team tested itself against St. Louis Park right off the bat this season and gave the Orioles a good game before falling 1-0 on Thursday night.
Senior goaltender Sarah Bruzek had a good game as St. Louis Park scored just the one goal, but the Alexandria offense couldn't find the back of the net in the season opener. The Cardinals, who are coming off a state tournament appearance in 2012, will open the home portion of their schedule at Lincoln Field as Detroit Lakes comes to town for a 1 p.m. start.

The Alexandria boys' soccer team was on the trip to St. Louis Park with the Cardinal girls as the Orioles ran past Alexandria in a 4-1 win.
St. Louis Park held possession of the ball all night as the Orioles outshot the Cardinals 29-4 with 18 of those shots being on goal. Kevin Roedel scored Alexandria's only goal, while Zack Lamb was kept busy in net. He had 14 saves in the loss. The Cardinals will be back in action when they travel to Detroit Lakes this Saturday for a 1 p.m. start.
