The Alexandria boys tennis team went 2-1 at its home invitational Saturday, winning matches against Big Lake and Totino Grace and falling to Chisago Lakes.
The Cardinals started off the day by sweeping Big Lake 7-0, followed by a 5-2 loss to Chisago Lakes and a close 4-3 victory over Totino Grace.
The Cardinals were led by their first and second doubles teams which finished a combined 6-0 on the day. Nick Partington, Payton Grandgenett, Brendan Holm and Levi Duwenhoegger each won three matches, a majority of which came in the doubles lineup.
The two wins helped Alexandria improve to 5-8 overall this season.
The Alexandria girls’ golf team won its home invitational at Geneva Golf Club on Saturday, shooting 344 to hold off second place Minnewaska’s 348.
The Lakers’ Jenna Janu and the Cardinals’ Amanda Bigger tied for the first with scores of 75, but tiebreaker criteria gave Bigger the victory.

The Alexandria baseball team went 1-1 at its home tournament on Saturday at Knute Nelson Ballpark.
The Cardinals won a back-and-forth game 10-6 against North St. Paul and followed that with a 6-3 loss to Holy Angels.
Mitch Thompson led the Alexandria offense against North St. Paul, going 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. Micah Hedstrom picked up a win on the mound in relief after allowing one earned run in an inning pitched. Thompson picked up a save in the game after tossing a scoreless seventh inning.
Dan Kuhn started against Holy Angels, going five innings and allowing five runs for a loss. Toby Helgeson, Thompson and Kris Setterstrom each drove in RBIs in the game.
