The Alexandria wrestling team finished ninth out of 29 teams at the Redwood River Riot over the course of two days.
The Cardinals accumulated 113.5 team points throughout Friday and Saturday. Sibley East won the event with 154 points and Maple River was second at 148.5.
Justin Cumberbatch came just short of capturing an individual title at 195 pounds. He took second after falling in a 3-2 overtime decision against Worthington's Carson Hagen in the title match.
Alexandria's Ben Bogart gave his team a boost at the top of the lineup with a third-place finish at 106 pounds. He won a 4-1 decision in the third-place match.
Dylan Kriese added a fourth-place finish at 126 pounds. Trent Piepenburg was fifth at 132 pounds. Blake Olhausen was seventh at 138 pounds and Dustin Neu was sixth at 152.

New Prague 59, Alexandria 53
New Prague's Paul Friendshuh led his team to a 59-53 win over Alexandria with 20 points on Saturday night.
The loss dropped Alexandria to 4-4 on the season heading into the Christmas break. The Cardinals' next game will be at home against Brainerd on January 3.
Melrose 73, Osakis 29
The Osakis boys couldn't keep up with Melrose as the Dutchmen ran to a 73-29 win on Saturday afternoon.
Melrose evened its record at 3-3 with the win and dropped Osakis to 3-6. Osakis will have off until December 28 when the Silverstreaks travel to Battle Lake to take on a 7-0 Battlers team.
