Someplace Safe Thrift Store to move
The Someplace Safe Thrift Store is relocating.
The new location will be at 801 County Road 44 NW, Suite 108, in Alexandria.
Someplace Safe is a non-profit organization serving victims of domestic violence by providing a 24-hour emergency shelter for battered women and their children, and outreach advocacy support for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and general crimes.
It opened a thrift store about two years ago. All of the income generated through the store helps support Someplace Safe programs for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and general crimes.
Someplace Safe leaders say the site will allow the store to better meet many of the requests and suggestions they've heard from customers.
Parking at the new location will be more readily available and convenient for shoppers and donors, according to Someplace Safe.
A one-level space will make the entire store more accessible to all who come to shop.
The thrift store also announced that donations will be accepted daily during set hours at the new location, helping to make the donation drop-off process more convenient for the community.
Store hours will remain virtually the same - 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the week and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays, with extended hours to 6 p.m. on Thursdays to accommodate those who aren't always able to shop or drop off donations during the regular hours.
The store will open in its new location in late May. Until then, customers are invited to stop by the thrift store's current location at 619 Broadway Street in Alexandria.
Those who are interested in volunteering at the thrift store or have other questions about the move or the store in general, may contact Kathy at firstname.lastname@example.org or call the store at (320) 763-4677.
