Someplace Safe invites you to 'walk a mile in her shoes'

There's still time to be a part of a new communitywide effort against sexual assault.

As part of April, National Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Someplace Safe of Douglas County organized its first Walk a Mile in Her Shoes: Men's March to End Sexual Assault and Gender Violence.

It is partnering with the Lakes Area Professional Women and LifeSTAGE Wealth Management Group, LLC.

The event is scheduled for Tuesday, April 30 at Big Ole Park in Alexandria. Registration is at 4:30 p.m., with the walk beginning at 5 p.m.

Both men and women can participate in the walk. Participants will collect pledges and then walk one mile while wearing high heels. Some heels will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring their own.

A brief presentation will take place after the walk, and pizza and snacks will be available. A free will donation will be accepted.

Funds will be donated to Someplace Safe of Douglas County to be used to help serve victims of crime in Douglas County.

To register or for more information, call Susan at (320) 762-1995 or Michelle at (320) 762-1880.
