Solid waste training and assessment offered

The Minnesota Technical Assistance Program (MnTAP), a non-regulatory technical assistance program for Minnesota businesses, will offer free solid waste training and on-site assessments for cities and businesses in Douglas County and the surrounding region.

Hosted by the Pope/Douglas Solid Waste Management, the events will take place on March 19 and 20 at the Holiday Inn in Alexandria.

The schedule of events includes:

Tuesday, March 19, Holiday Inn - 8 a.m. to noon: Training for businesses; 1 to 5 p.m. Training for government and nonprofit staff.

Wednesday, March 20 - Two on-site solid waste assessments by MnTAP staff at local businesses.

Training topics will include intro to MnTAP, waste 101, source reduction and waste prevention, data collection and analysis, reuse and materials exchange, waste assessments, self-audit skills and managing organic wastes.

Advance registration is recommended, but day-of registration will be available.
