Softball wins fifth straight
The Osakis softball team has put almost everything together after a loss in the season opener as the Silverstreaks wrapped up a perfect week last week with a 12-0 win in five innings over Swanville.
That moved Osakis to 5-1 overall and to 3-0 in the Prairie Conference. The Silverstreaks got there by getting another solid pitching performance, committing no errors and racking up 13 hits against the Bulldogs.
“We played well all around,” head coach John Stigman said. “We pitched well, hit well, played good defense and ran the bases well. This was one of those days that we clicked in every aspect of the game.”
Amber Giese had another solid start with four innings of work. She got the win after allowing just two hits and no walks. She struck out six before Rylee Mickle worked the final frame and struck out one.“They started the bottom of the first inning with a bunt single and a flair over the infield,” Stigman said. “Amber found her groove quickly after that, dominating their hitters over the rest of her four innings. Rylee came in and threw well also, closing the game out.”The offense opened things up with five runs in the third and four more in the fifth. Jordyn Rajdl led the way with three hits, including a triple, to go along with five RBIs. Katie Anderson and Morgan Silbernick each added two hits apiece.
