Softball: Brandon-Evansville stays alive in 6A

The Brandon-Evansville softball team was still alive in the Section 6A playoffs after splitting two games in Alexandria last Thursday.

The Chargers got a strong pitching performance from Kinsley Randt in a 3-1 win over Parkers Prairie in game one. That matched them up with fifth-seeded Bertha-Hewitt-Verndale, where the Raiders took a 9-2 game. That dropped the Chargers to the loser's bracket, where they were scheduled to play Parkers Prairie again last night, Tuesday.

"Today, we got very good pitching performances from Kinsley and Carlie [Steffenson]," head coach Tim Pattrin said. "Our defense played excellent in the field in both games. We had runners all day, and we got a clutch hit from Sara Roers versus Parkers. Against BHV, we just couldn't seem to get that clutch hit to drive in our runners."
