Alexandria had lost two straight to a couple good opponents in St. Cloud Cathedral and Moorhead. The Cardinals didn’t let that carry over into a game against the Storm as they outshot Sauk Rapids 48-18 and ran away with things after a three-goal second period.

Zach Johnson gave his team an early lead with a goal at 3:20 in the first frame. Chris Leary, Toby Helgeson and Matt Resch then made it 4-0 with goals in the second period. Helgeson added his second of the night in the final period to put the finishing touches on the win.

Sam Goetsch had another nice night in net for Alexandria with 17 saves on 18 shots faced. Helgeson finished with three points after adding an assist and Christian Canavati and Johnson each had two points.

The win moved the Cardinals to 6-2 overall and to 5-0 in the CLC.
