Singer/songwriter Nate Houge to perform at Alexandria First Lutheran

Garage folk singer Nate Houge will perform at four weekend worship services on Saturday, August 16 and Sunday, August 17 at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria. He will also give a free concert Saturday at 7 p.m. Contributed photo.

Nate Houge, garage folk singer, will perform on Saturday, August 16 and Sunday, August 17 at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria.

On Saturday, Houge will provide special music at 5 p.m. worship services. He will also perform in concert at 7 p.m. in the church sanctuary. The concert is free and open to the community.

On Sunday, he will perform at the 8:30, 9:45 and 11 a.m. worship services. The 11 a.m. service will be held at City Park in Alexandria, weather permitting.

Houge is a singer/

songwriter, cyclist and baker who is headquartered in St. Paul. For the last 15 years, he has toured the country as a solo performer and with his bands, Welaware and The Honest Folk. He performs in churches, house concerts, clubs, colleges and coffee shops.

After years of baking for his family and neighbors, he partnered with his friend and Welaware guitarist Micah Taylor to launch “Brake Bread.” Together, they bake artisan bread and deliver it by bicycle along the West Seventh corridor of St. Paul.

Brake Bread values things that take time such as good bread, bicycles and building community.
