The Alexandria swimming and diving team had seven wins but couldn’t come away with a win in a close 98-88 loss to Willmar last Thursday night.

Megan Bristow and Kate LeBrasseur each had two wins apiece for Alexandria. Bristow took the 200 freestyle in 2:11.35 and the 500 freestyle in 5:54.45, while LeBrasseur won the 100 butterfly in 1:07.74 and the 100 backstroke in 1:07.32.

Madalyn Winger also won the 100 freestyle in 58.70 and Jenna Kremer took the diving competition with 177.60 points. The other win for Alexandria came in the 400-freestyle relay as LeBrasseur, Macy Hatlestad, Bristow and Winger won in a time of 4:01.14. That still wasn’t quite enough as Alexandria fell to 2-5 overall and 2-3 in the Central Lakes Conference.

“Our biggest problem was placing high enough in the relays,” head coach Mark Storhaug said. “Between the 200 medley and 200 free relays, Alexandria got beat 22-6.”

The Cardinals finished with 12 season bests on the night. Mikayla Meece and Jaylen Olson-Rodel each had two of those, while Kremer also posted a season best by nine points in winning the diving competition. Rachel Kriese and Tatiana Bartone also had season bests on their dives.
