Series of concerts planned on courthouse lawn

The Red Willow Arts Coalition is sponsoring a series of free summer concerts.

The concerts are set for 15 Thursday evenings in May, June, July, August and September.

All concerts will take place on the lawn of the Douglas County Courthouse beginning at 7 p.m.

Guests are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy the music.

The series is sponsored by Anderson Funeral Home and Elden's Food Fair, with each individual concert sponsored by a local business or organization.

The first concert, which was sponsored by Broadway Medical Center, took place Thursday, May 27 and featured Bruce Nelson.

Here is the lineup for the rest of the summer:

•June 3 - Roger and Doris Thompson, old time music/comedy. Echo Press is the sponsor.

•June 10 - Doc's All Stars, big band. Alexandria Clinic is the sponsor.

•June 17 - 57 Chevy, 50s rock-n-roll music. Alexandria Clinic is the sponsor.

•June 24 - Pure Country, classic country music. Depot Express is the sponsor.

•July 1 - Mikko's Irish Show, Irish music. Sponsors include Rikki Iglesias, World Class Wines; Terri Paradis; and Aaron Wickon.

•July 8 - Freddie Dean, country and 50s music. Myron Larson Insurance is the sponsor.

•July 15 - Dave Stoddard, original and folk music. Fergus Music is the sponsor.

•July 22 - Missy Radermacher, piano and vocal. Integrity Title, Inc. is the sponsor.

•July 29 - Jazz Dot Combo, jazz music. Colorful Season's Garden Center is the sponsor.

•August 5 - Jimmy Jenson, old time music. Red Willow Arts Coalition is the sponsor.

•August 12 - Peggy Weise, vocal and guitar. Sponsor to be announced.

•August 19 - Alexienne Chorus, barbershop harmony. Sponsor to be announced.

•August 26 - Red Letter Band, Christian and country music. Sponsor to be announced.

•September 2 - Reverend Raven, blues band. Trumm Drug is the sponsor.
