Senator Bill Ingebrigtsen endorses Seifert for governor
State Senator Bill Ingebrigtsen (R-Alexandria) announced that he will endorse former House GOP leader Marty Seifert for governor. Ingebrigtsen, a member of the state Senate since 2007, was considered a possible candidate and decided against joining the race in favor of publicly supporting Seifert.
“I know what it’s like to run in a tough race, defeating a well-entrenched DFL incumbent in 2006, the worst year for Republicans since Watergate,” said Ingebrigtsen. “Marty Seifert has exactly the experience and values we need to bring new leadership to Minnesota’s executive branch by defeating Mark Dayton. I am proud to endorse him today.”
Seifert expressed his gratitude for Ingebrigtsen’s support and leadership in public service.
“I am honored to have Senator Ingebrigtsen on my statewide team and to call him my friend,” Seifert said. “Along with his leadership on several major issues in the Minnesota Senate, Bill has given a lifetime of public service to his community in numerous ways. I am very much looking forward to working with him in 2014 and beyond to bring conservative leadership to state government.”
Marty Seifert announced his campaign for governor on Thursday, November 21 and has traveled to more than 15 cities across Minnesota on his statewide media and events tour.
